Chinese Style Pork Spare Ribs


Just like you remember from yoru childhood!

Recipe for Rack of Eight Pork Ribs

  1. Combine all marinade ingredients in a a non-metallic dish.

  2. Separate spare ribs into individual ribs and combine with marinade. Mix well. Cover dish and keep in fridge for a minimum of 3 hours.

  3. Pre-heat the oven to 375.

  4. Put the sauce ingredients in an oven-proof frying pan. Bring the sauce to a boil and then reduce heat and add spare ribs. Cover and simmer gently for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Uncover and cook in oven for approximately 15 minutes. The ribs should begin to brown and the sauce become tacky.

  6. Serve at once!

Ingredients
2 - 4 ribs each servings

  • Marinade
  • 2 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Rice Flour (or corn starch)
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoon sesame seed oil
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar or chinese black rice vinegar
  • Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 3 tablespoon scallions finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 5 fl oz chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoon Shaoxing rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 2 fl oz cider vinegar or chinese black rice vinegar
  • (2 tablespoon minced fresh red chiles optional for spicy version)
  • (2 tablespoon dried grated orange peel for citrus version)
